India
- Silver Boxes
| Indian custom specifies sometimes extravagant amounts of silver and gold as dowry gifts. These fine silver boxes were probably part of a woman's dowry and are typical of most of India's excellent silver craft. The box on the left is held closed with a silver pin at one end. The one on the right has a cleverly designed clasp - it opens by slightly sliding up the small heart shape in the middle. It also has a silver loop at the top so that it could be hung. | ||
