- Stone Rings 2

| Wide
differences of opinion exist on precise origins for much Central Asian jewelry.
Jewelers in a particular town or of a certain ethnicity would create jewelry
for various neighboring tribes - hence much confusion reigns about ascribing
certain tribal origins, such as Turkmen, Uzbek, Kazakh, Tajik, Hazara, etc.
But a lot of material, such as these Uzbek rings, can be definitely sourced
to distinct tribal origins. Fine chased and engraved work and particular
motifs identify these as Uzbek. All three rings are silver. The ring on the left is set with an engraved carnelian, the middle has a carnelian stone with four small turquoise ones and the right is set with a large engraved lapis stone and small turquoise stones. |
